2025’s Yong Wu zhi Di follows journalist Ma Xiao and engineer Miao Feng, who are abducted by trauma-worn former teacher Latif while repairing a communication tower in the Sahara. Their desperate first escape attempt ends in tragedy when Miao is killed by a landmine, leaving Ma to flee alone and seek shelter in Latif’s village. Over several months, an uneasy trust forms between Ma and Latif, who grapples with guilt over his initial abduction and grief for his own lost son. Just as their fragile bond solidifies, the ruthless Iron Army raids the village and captures Ma—setting Latif on a redemptive, high-stakes mission to rescue him and make amends for his past actions.
