Laura Paredes (Buenos Aires, born August 16, 1980) is an Argentine theatre, film, and television actress and screenwriter. Her performance in the feature film Argentina, 1985 earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 71st Silver Condor Awards. That same year, she garnered widespread international acclaim as both the star and co-writer of Trenque Lauquen. For her writing on the film, Paredes, alongside director Laura Citarella, won Best Original Screenplay at the 20th International Cinephile Society (ICS) Awards in February 2023. At the ceremony, which annually honors the best in global cinema, Trenque Lauquen also swept major categories, winning Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Ensemble. This milestone made it only the second Argentine film to win the top prize in the history of the ICS Awards since its inception in 2004, following Lucrecia Martel's Zama in 2019.
