Hatem Ali (حاتم علي) was a Syrian actor and director. He studied philosophy and then acting at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus, from which he graduated in 1986. He worked as an actor in many series, then turned to directing in the mid-nineties. Before that, he wrote the script for the film بهمو آخر الليل and then directed it. The film won the gold at the Cairo Radio and Television Festival. He presented many immortal series as a director, including (فارس في المدينة، مرايا 98، مرايا 99، الفصول الأربعة، الزير سالم، صلاح الدين الأيوبي، التغريبة الفلسطينية), and he also presented three films for the cinema: (العشاق، سيلينا، الليل الطويل). He founded an artistic production company called (صورة), through which he presented a number of television works.
