Michael Kavanaugh "Mike" White was a professional NFL football coach. White played football, rugby, and basketball at Cal Berkeley prior to beginning his professional coaching career as an assistant coach under Marv Levy at Cal (1959-1963) and under John Ralston at Stanford (1964-1971). He then became head coach at Cal (1972-1977), coached the San Francisco 49ers' offensive line in 1978-1979 under Bill Walsh, and then head coach for Illinois (1980-1987). Finally, he was head coach of the Oakland Raiders in 1995-1996, previously serving as an assistant under Art Shell from 1990-1994. Mike White died of a heart attack on December 14, 2025 in Newport Beach, California, USA.
