Maël Zaïd is an emerging independent filmmaker who will soon finish his bachelor's degree in cinema at UQAM. Driven by the hybridity of genres and an anthropological approach, he wishes to pursue his career as a filmmaker and undertake a master's degree in cinema studies. His films, most of them made in an academic framework, seek to think outside the box to offer deconstructed and immersive works giving platform to marginality. Above all a film buff, he is fascinated by the different ways of theorizing cinema. In short, he is seduced and engaged by a cinema that is sometimes irreverent, a little too provocative and certainly grotesque.
