James Dew Hall (last name pronounced doo-hawl, two words combined) is an African American filmmaker, editor, actor, and sound designer with a focus on directing and acting in narrative films. His creative background began in the mid-2000s, when he started posting his own YouTube skits and comedy sketches, which sparked early interests in screenwriting, sound effects editing, and music production. He later expanded into multiple production roles while studying in the VCUarts Cinema program. James' directorial work blends genre experimentation with a playful yet thoughtful approach to stories centered on the human condition and the lived experiences of people across races, identities, and sexualities. His films and performances aim to create both entertainment and meaningful conversation through storytelling. James is the founder of the multimedia company KID EYE, which is currently in development. KID EYE focuses on producing and supporting narrative and experimental films, music videos, photography, and other creative services.
