Marta Romero (February 17, 1928 - May 31, 2013) was a Puerto Rican actress and singer, considered one of the pioneers in Puerto Rican television. In cinema she is known for her participation in films such as Ayer amargo (1959) Amor perdóname (1968) and El señor doctor (1965). Romero retired from the art world in 1976, to enter the Evangelical Church Defenders of the Faith. At the time of his death, she had lived for seven years in a charity home as a result of the death of her husband, Elías Najul Bez, and being suffering from Alzheimer's disease. On September 21, 2013, almost four months after her death, the city of Ponce dedicated the 2013 edition of her World Ponce Day to her. On December 12, 2013, Romero was honored with a ceremony and was added to the list of illustrious citizens of Ponce in the Park of the Illustrious Citizens of Ponce in the Tricentennial Park of Ponce
