Alicia Read is an American-Canadian actor and producer whose screen work has reached more than 300 million viewers across leading vertical microdrama platforms including ReelShort, GoodShort, and DramaWave. In fall 2025, she co-produced and co-starred in the first Canadian ReelShort Original. Known for emotionally intelligent performances and exceptional creative range, she has emerged as one of the defining faces of the vertical microdrama format. Born on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Alicia began her career as a child co-star in Foufouli, a Canadian television series written, produced, and starring her mother. After formal training at Vancouver’s Gastown Actors Studio in the late 1990s, she joined John Juliani’s Savage Gods: The Shakespeare Project, grounding her work in classical text, ensemble practice, and rigorous character development. After becoming a mother, Alicia stepped away from the entertainment industry to raise her child as a single parent, and went on to spend two decades as a creative leader in the luxury beauty industry, founding the sales and marketing agency Kalosophie. There, she guided emerging and established brands from early growth through acquisition readiness, securing prestige media coverage, retail partnerships, and domestic and international distribution, experience that continues to inform her strategic approach to storytelling, brand building, and audience connection. Returning to acting in 2022, Alicia now operates at the intersection of performance, production, and industry leadership. She serves as Executive Partner at Type Eh Media, where she consults and speaks publicly on the evolution of vertical microdramas, and is a co-founder of the Vertical Film & Short Series Alliance (VFSSA), a professional organization advocating for best practices, standards, and long-term economic stability within the format.
