David B. Miller is a prominent Southern Methodist University (SMU) alumnus, a billionaire co-founder of the private equity firm EnCap Investments, and the current Chairman of the SMU Board of Trustees. He is known for his significant philanthropic contributions to the university, which have exceeded $100 million, and for his instrumental role in spearheading SMU's move to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Miller attended SMU on a basketball scholarship, earning both his BBA and MBA from the university in the early 1970s.
