In 1915, Rati returned to the Kingdom of Siam after spending several years in France. Upon his return, he was asked for his help in teaching French to the wealthiest bureaucrats, which he agreed to do for the six months of his stay. During this period, he met Thee. Heir to a wealthy family, he introduced the country's customs and traditions to the young foreigner. Seeing their rapprochement with a bad eye, Thee's family did everything possible to separate them.
